Right. Just when things were starting to get comfortable here....

That's a fairly ominous riddle there! A day for all the worlds to end? A cup of bitter hatred and swiftly breaking bones? Any guesses as to what this one is about?

[identity profile] exploring-game.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
It can't be good.

[identity profile] hatebirds.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
It's saying that when the event comes, we'll all be better off dead.

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
No, I imagine not. It'll be good to try and figure it before it comes though.

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
That's...not exactly good. Somehow though, it's not surprising. If dying isn't a problem here, then I'm sure this place has worse in store.

Just when things were starting to perk up for me! The love of my life is finally my girlfriend and now this place is going to torture us again! Wonderful!

[identity profile] wayward-sam.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds to me like the Apocalypse.

[identity profile] hatebirds.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
If you die in a dream, you just wake up.

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
That doesn't make it any less unpleasant to die. I'd rather avoid it if I can.

[identity profile] hatebirds.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
...Just wake yourself up, before they can get you.

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately, that sounds about right. It would certainly end all worlds, that's for sure.

It would be nice to have some more details, so we could do something about it. There has to be something else here....

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
That would be helpful if I were dreaming, but whatever this is is more likely to happen while I'm awake.

[identity profile] hatebirds.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Who said that?

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, no one did really. It could probably happen at any time though, and I'm awake more often than I'm asleep, so odds are I'd be awake at the time.

[identity profile] wayward-sam.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Well, where I'm from, the Apocalypse is mostly described in the last book of the Bible... which, uh, I don't know if that exists in your world. But the information that's there is almost as roundabout and enigmatic as the riddles and poems we get over here.

[identity profile] hatebirds.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
He talked about dreams, though.

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, we've got it, I think, but I'm not particularly well-versed in it. That's kind of irritating though, don't you think? If something's going to talk about something as big as the apocalypse, it should be clearer than that! Really, that goes for this world's riddles too.

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
...That's true! You have a point there!

Though, I don't know. It talked about drowning our dreams. Does that mean we won't be able to sleep? Or maybe it will be a dreamless sleep...

[identity profile] hatebirds.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
That's impossible.

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
Hm? No, it's not. Not in our world, anyway. There's a potion you can take that gives you deep, dreamless sleep. It's possible for something to make you sleep without dreaming.

[identity profile] hatebirds.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
...Why?

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
Why it's dreamless? I'm not sure why it keeps people from dreaming. It's a potion to make people sleep, like people who have been hurt and need to rest or who just can't sleep for whatever reason. I think the idea is to get them deeply asleep as quick as possible.

[identity profile] hatebirds.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
That's not fair. I'd rather not sleep at all.

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Dreamless sleep is pretty boring, I'd imagine. I take it you really like dreaming?

[identity profile] hatebirds.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Dreaming is interaction.

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Interaction?

[identity profile] hatebirds.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
With the environment created by the subconscious.

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I think I've got it now...sort of. I've never thought about dreaming very much, to be honest!

[identity profile] hatebirds.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
It's important. Dreaming.

[identity profile] doesntneedpants.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I . . . have no idea?

The point of a riddle is to be what it sounds like, but not QUITE, right? So all this death and hatred and stuff . . . I dunno, maybe I just want it to mean something else.

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess I should pay better attention to them!

Are you one of those people who does dream divination then?

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
No, that makes sense, it does. All the other riddles have been kind of...off. The last one sounded worse than it was, right? It sounded like it was going to completely change who we are, but we just got silly nicknames.

I don't know if we'll be that fortunate, but we can hope, right? Or maybe I just want it to mean something else as well.

[identity profile] mybff-scabbers.livejournal.com 2009-05-30 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Prongs, I don't know what this one means at all... but I know it sounds really frightening! What are we going to do, James? I'm scared!

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-30 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
That's likely because it is very frightening, Wormtail. As for what we'll do, that's not really so hard. We'll...come up with a plan, then execute that plan, and do our best to keep everyone safe! Right. It's doable. We'll manage, just as always.

[Voice]

[identity profile] mybff-scabbers.livejournal.com 2009-05-30 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
[The sound of deep, calming breaths is heard.] Right. Yeah, that's right. We'll manage, because you and Padfoot and Moony will think of something. And then we can help everyone else out, too.

But I still wish I knew what it was...

What's 'ambrosia', anyway?

[identity profile] flames-arbiter.livejournal.com 2009-05-30 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
It certainly sounded ominous.

[Voice]

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-30 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
See? It'll be all right. We can handle this! I'm sure you can give us a hand too. ...It would be a bit easier if we knew what it was though, you're right.

You know, I wasn't really sure. It sounded like it would be some kind of flower, but I saw someone else saying it was some kind of drink that brings ageless immortality. I think we'd know about something like that if it were real though. It must be some muggle myth....

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-30 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
It did, didn't it? I'm sort of hoping it's just being overly dramatic and that an apocalypse isn't on its way..

[identity profile] flames-arbiter.livejournal.com 2009-05-30 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
Well... If something happens, we'll just have to figure our way out of it.

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-30 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
That's about right. We've managed thus far, and if this place really wanted to kill us in any meaningful way, it would have done so already. So, we'll make it, somehow!

[identity profile] flames-arbiter.livejournal.com 2009-05-30 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly! A lot of people here aren't completely unarmed. Whatever comes, I'm sure we can take it on.

[Voice - Peter's imagination runs away with him]

(Anonymous) 2009-05-30 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[Nervous laughter.] Ha, right, a Muggle myth. That's quite funny... no drink can bring ageless immortality, no matter what spells or ingredients you use... right? I mean, if it was true, it'd be really useful, but it's not...

But what if this next event makes ambrosia real? What if all sorts of myths and stuff that isn't real suddenly became real? The Mansion can do stuff like that, can't it? I don't really want all those pretend things to be real... then there really would be nasty ghosts in the Shrieking Shack...

Sorry, that comment was me. My computer seems to think it's funny to randomly log out of LJ these days.

[identity profile] hatebirds.livejournal.com 2009-05-30 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Divination? Dreams don't tell the future. They tell the present.

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-31 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Makes enough sense to me. Most divination is bullocks anyway, but there are people back home who say they can do things like that.

[Voice]

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-31 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
[James laughs, -especially- as Peter brings up the Shrieking Shack.] Even if the Shrieking Shack was really haunted, there's a little problem with that - namely, the absence of a Shrieking Shack. But I guess this place could bring it if it really wanted to.

But I don't know. It's something to think about, but it's just a piece of the riddle too. A day for saints ties into that, but I don't think it ties into the rest. ...Unless it's some myth that's capable of ending all the worlds.

[identity profile] pottershotter.livejournal.com 2009-05-31 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
That's the spirit!

[identity profile] hatebirds.livejournal.com 2009-05-31 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
There are crazy people everywhere.

[identity profile] mybff-scabbers.livejournal.com 2009-06-01 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[At the mention of multi-world apocalypse, Peter splutters and croaks and cannot get words out for several moments.]

Oh, bloody, bleeding hell... James, you don't think that's possible, do you? It can't be, can it? We've got to stop it, James!
