[It's sort of a slow day - even the greatest detectives have them once in a while. I've spent most of the day staring up at the ceiling with my chair tilted back as far as it goes. It feels like flying, if I close my eyes and pretend I'm actually going anywhere. ...Alright, so maybe it doesn't really. But it'd be pretty great if it did.
Anyway, it gives me some time to reflect on how I got here. It's funny - I've always been more of a chaser than a seeker, after all. But I love a good adventure, and being an officer just wouldn't be enough. A private eye gets the better cases, really. Oh sure, they tend to start out with looking for something or spying on someone, but they always end in catching criminals and turning them over to the police. I'd miss half the fun if I was a cop! But as a PI, I can manage all the mischief I want...while maybe causing a little of my own. And after all this time, I've gotten pretty good at it.
The waiting is bloody awful though. It's easily the worst part of the job. So I'm just sitting here, in my office, waiting for an adventure. To pass the time, I'm pitching a little round, winged object up in air and catching it easily when it falls. It's my own little bit of treasure - The Golden Snitch. It's probably worth a lot, but I'll go to my grave before I let someone slither in and take it.]

Of course, she'll check the man's ticket first, make sure he's got his license, but at this stage in the game, she's willing to take anyone willing to help. Evelyn raps on the man's door, shifting outside the office uncomfortably.]

My name is Evelyn Carnahan, Mr. Potter. I may...I may have a case for you.
[Not that she likes showing weakness, she can't afford to waste any more time.]
