[You know what this event could use more of? Mirrors making trouble. Now, granted, causing trouble isn't usually Mirror James' thing, but this is a special occasion.

Granted, his brand of trouble is a little more quiet and subtle than his Real Thing's is. Of course, that doesn't make his methods ineffective. He's been creeping around the mansion, watching for more rebellious types, and looking for ways to incapacitate them before they can get to the Rabbit Hole. He's made himself inconspicuous all day, and he's made sure there is always a mirror nearby, so that in an emergency he can return to his side of the glass and swap places with the real James. He's considered swapping sooner, but he thinks it might be worthwhile to have someone on the Real Side to deter resistance efforts.

Which is why, at the moment, he is lurking near the front door, waiting. If they don't make it outside, then they won't be able to go to the Rabbit hole, will they? So he stands nearby with his wand, like a snake in tall grass waiting to strike.

[So, James isn't really one to stay put in his room (or more accurately, his cubicle) just because he's suddenly blind. Once it became apparent that everyone was going through this, it just meant that it was another event, and that it would go away on its own eventually. Instead of being, you know, cautious and careful, James has decided the best course of action is to go blind exploring. He can kind of see based on touch, and James is not at all shy about reaching his hands out in front of him and trying to touch anything within arm's length. It would be nice if the closets worked, or if he could find a cane, but he would probably only do something reckless with it.. You know, to see if it would work.

He's probably lost, but oh well. He's just adventuring. And he's just stopped for a minute to play with a swivel chair in one of the cubicles. Hogwarts was very much lacking in this comfortable muggle marvel. But anyway, that's not why he's addressing the network. And you probably thought this was an action post. Ha!
]

It's a bit odd, don't you think? I mean, I can't tell for sure, but there's lots of desks, and chairs that turn around on their own, and funny divider walls. So, the setting changed a bit. ...But I thought the event was the whole suddenly being unable to see thing?

[He's been thinking about it for a while, while spinning in the spinny chair. It's helping him concentrate, really. He should probably be more concerned over losing his sense of the room from the spinning, but whatever. He'll figure it out. He's not worried.]

I guess it could all be one, but it seems sort of strange. It would be like having an event where, oh, I don't know - it rains Bertie Bott's Beans and dragons roam the halls. Technically this place could probably make it happen, but I think it's a little too random, don't you think?

Also...just wondering, but does anyone know what floor I'm on? I sort of lost track when I was going down the stairs.

[...Oops.]

[In the front hall, right where anyone and everyone will walk by and see, James has set up a booth. The sign at the top says:

FILL ANY QUADRANT
1 GALLEON
(OR OTHER WORLDLY EQUIVALENT)

And, being the showman he is, James is standing up on his booth, shouting to anyone who will listen
]

That's right! Step right up and I, James Potter, will fill any quadrant for just one Galleon! Don't have Galleons in your world? No problem! Bartering's just fine, and I've got a list of alternate forms of payment right over here-

[There's a list crudely scrawled on the side of the booth, and it lists things like 27 pumpkin pasties, a song and jig (must be on-key), a very good joke, a kiss from a pretty girl, and so on as other ways to pay him, if you don't have anything else. In other words, anything that's vaguely interesting will probably work.]

Need a quadrant I've got filled already? I can find you your perfect soulmate for whatever - same price! Right now every quadrant is up for grabs, but it won't be that way for long, so come on, come on! Come fill your quadrants right here!

[And as if that wasn't flashy enough, he shoots off some small red fireworks from his wand to get some attention, as he keeps shouting similar announcements. This is obviously the most practical solution to filling quadrants when one's friends and enemies are all at home. Obviously.]

[It's sort of a slow day - even the greatest detectives have them once in a while. I've spent most of the day staring up at the ceiling with my chair tilted back as far as it goes. It feels like flying, if I close my eyes and pretend I'm actually going anywhere. ...Alright, so maybe it doesn't really. But it'd be pretty great if it did.

Anyway, it gives me some time to reflect on how I got here. It's funny - I've always been more of a chaser than a seeker, after all. But I love a good adventure, and being an officer just wouldn't be enough. A private eye gets the better cases, really. Oh sure, they tend to start out with looking for something or spying on someone, but they always end in catching criminals and turning them over to the police. I'd miss half the fun if I was a cop! But as a PI, I can manage all the mischief I want...while maybe causing a little of my own. And after all this time, I've gotten pretty good at it.

The waiting is bloody awful though. It's easily the worst part of the job. So I'm just sitting here, in my office, waiting for an adventure. To pass the time, I'm pitching a little round, winged object up in air and catching it easily when it falls. It's my own little bit of treasure - The Golden Snitch. It's probably worth a lot, but I'll go to my grave before I let someone slither in and take it.

WE'RE IN OUTER SPACE

I have no idea how we got here in the least, but this is amazing! Muggles really do this without any magic at all? Really? This is just bloody brilliant!

I can't stop looking out the windows. It's spectacular out there! It's all so close! ...Well, I guess it's not that close. But look at that planet! Is that Mars? Are we actually traveling near Mars?

This is all so unbelievable...

...Say, how does this thing work anyway? The ship, I mean. I'm sure Kaylee would have been able to tell me. It's a damn shame she's not here for this. Does anyone know though?

At least that idiocy has ceased. He's just as bad as my other version is.

It's almost time to leave this place. However, I will not be going without leaving a mark, of some kind. I deserve at least that much, for all of the ridiculousness I've been forced to endure.

[ooc: Replies will be from [livejournal.com profile] notsogryffindor. For the record, the real James will be coming home to find his half of his room torn apart, and his bed incinerated. With the ashes, the mirror will have drawn a dark mark on the wall, and enchanted it so it won't come off. Take that, you arrogant lookalike.]

[The journal flickers on and for a minute or two, there's nothing. Then, James speaks. He seems to be alone, and there's a sense of urgency in his words.]

...Okay. I'll bite. Where's my body gone, Mansion? Mm? Well? Somehow, I don't remember dying recently, so by all reason it should still be here!

[Then, he takes a deep breath. He mutters just under his breath, trying to figure the mystery out himself.]

I can't be dead though. That's not supposed to happen for a few years...right? There's something not right here.

I'm going to go get Remus.

Sirius, Lily, Peter. Stay here with Harry. I won't be gone long and the people here need as many people from our world to help them as they can. I'll be back soon with Remus in tow. We can't just leave him out there.

As for everyone else - try to stick together and think happy thoughts and eat chocolate. Really. It'll help a bit, I promise.

Right, so...as everyone else has said! There's no way we'll lose to Slytherin, you can be sure of that. Err. Have an obligatory Head-Boy speech about good sportsmanship here. You've all heard that more times that you can count, right? Right. So I don't need to bore you to tears saying it again!

Gryffindor! I'll see you tonight for practice! And I hope I see the rest of you in the stands come game time!

So uh, Evans! It sounds like you've gotten a hold of something I need, something that you weren't supposed to find. Be a dear and hand them over, would you?

Otherwise I'll be over to get them...right about now, actually!

[ooc: James' quest is to get the Harry Potter books away from Lily! It has been decided he will walk away from this with Book 3, all with the permission of Lily-mun. ♥]

You know, this place really delivers! Just as I was starting to think "Man, it's hot. I could use a break," the mansion warped itself into some bizarre...thing. Everyone's been calling it a waterpark? It must be some muggle thing, but it's pretty amazing!

I like these water gun things too. I've gotten to be a decent shot, if I do say so myself. It's not the same as shooting water from a wand, or flooding a room, but it's still pretty interesting!

But yeah. good timing, mansion! Excellent job! And now to go and squirt the unsuspecting~!
